Rare & First Edition Search Service

1. Nature of Service
By purchasing the Rare & First Edition Search Service, you are engaging Great Books of Mankind to conduct research on your behalf to locate a specific rare, first, or collectible edition of a book. The $49.00 payment is a non-refundable research deposit that covers the time and effort required to search dealer networks, auction records, and private collections.
2. No Guarantee of Availability
The deposit does not guarantee that the requested book will be found. Some editions are extremely rare and may not be available at any price. Some may only be available in conditions or at price points that differ significantly from your expectations.
3. No Obligation to Purchase
If we locate the requested edition, we will provide you with a detailed condition report, photographs (when available), and a quote for the full acquisition cost. You are under no obligation to proceed with the purchase. If you decline, the research deposit is still forfeit.
4. Pricing of Located Books
Rare and first editions can range from tens of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars depending on the title, edition, condition, and market demand. The research deposit is separate from and does not apply toward the purchase price of any book located.
5. Timeline
We aim to provide an initial update within 3-5 business days of receiving your deposit. A full search may take 2-6 weeks depending on the rarity of the requested title. We will keep you informed of our progress via the email address provided at checkout.
6. Refund Policy
The $49.00 research deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances, including if the book cannot be found, if the quoted price is higher than expected, or if you choose not to proceed with a purchase.
7. Digital Products
All digital products sold through Great Books of Mankind (e-books, spreadsheets, PDFs) are non-refundable. Due to the nature of digital goods, all sales are final.
