Verner von Heidenstam was a leading figure of the Swedish neo-Romantic revival who sought to reinvigorate national literature with passion, color, and historical grandeur. His poetry celebrated Sweden’s landscape and heritage in richly sensuous language, offering a deliberate counterpoint to the austere naturalism that had dominated Scandinavian letters. His contributions were recognized with the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1916.
