GBM Assessment (Score: 8/10)

On War is the most influential treatise on warfare ever written, famous above all for its dictum that "war is the continuation of politics by other means." Carl von Clausewitz developed a comprehensive theory of military strategy that treats war not as an isolated technical exercise but as an instrument of national policy, shaped by political objectives, chance, and the psychological forces he called "friction" and the "fog of war."

Written in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars, which Clausewitz experienced firsthand as a Prussian officer, On War was published posthumously in 1832. Its insights into the relationship between military force and political purpose have made it required reading at virtually every military academy in the world, and its concepts continue to shape strategic thinking in contexts far beyond the battlefield.
